Tips and Tricks

1) If modifying any SRS report from a WennSoft Report Pack, make sure you backup that report on your report server.  If loading 10.0 EX with the same report name, the modified report could be overwritten.

2) When preparing for an upgrade

  • Download the latest Install/Upgrade executable from www.wennsoft.com.
  • Test your upgrade
  • Test security for both managers and other users (Different levels of security)
  • Make backup of all Databases after GP upgrade and before WennSoft upgrade.
  • Load new client instead of trying to upgrade existing client on each machine.
  • Check on SQL2008 compatibility with WennSoft SRS Report Packs.  Currently (May 2009) for 10.0 EX, these reports are not compatible.


3) If upgrading during off-hours (night or weekend), please make arrangements before you upgrade to have someone available, if needed, from GP and/or WennSoft Support. When preparing to load a Dynamics GP Service Pack or Hot Fix, make sure you review the compatibility notes for the latest WennSoft Service Pack; or contact support to determine compatibility.

4) When searching WennSoft Knowledge Base:

  • Review categories (broken down by product) – Search by category using Advanced Search.
  • Search on key words without the use of ‘AND’ or ‘OR’ between the words. The return of articles will continue to limit list of articles for each word entered.  If looking for Job Cost Invoice Issue, you could search by category (Job Cost) and enter the key word invoice.  However, you may need a few additional words to limit search.
  • When entering version numbers as key words, try using the following:  10.00EX, 10.00b01, 9.00EX, and 9.00b01.
  • When reviewing list of articles restricted by your search, hover over the article title to read some content of the article to help determine if it would be useful.
  • Provide suggestions to WennSoft Support (support@wennsoft.com) on how to improve the user experience when using Knowledge Base.
