The WennSoft Legacy in Field Service and Construction

Our Mission since 1995: Engineering Purpose-Built Solutions for the Skilled Trades
___

Born From the Trades

WennSoft’s roots date back to 1911, when the Wenninger brothers founded their plumbing and heating business in southern Wisconsin. In fact, the “Wenn” in WennSoft is derived from the Wenninger name.

Fast forward to the 1980s, when the Wenninger family business included a new family member – Jim Wenninger. When Jim joined what was then one of Wisconsin’s largest mechanical contracting and engineering businesses, he quickly noticed that the Wenninger Company was running their business on antiquated systems. They needed a more modern way to manage the company’s growing installation and maintenance business.

Jim could not find a purpose-built solution to modernize the Wenninger Company business, so he designed one using the leading Great Plains ERP (later to become Microsoft Dynamics GP). Over time, he built a modern software system — built for contractors, by contractors — which led to the founding of WennSoft in 1995.

Since 1995, WennSoft has been delivering purpose-built solutions for the trades. Today, over 500 customers turn to WennSoft to help them run their businesses as profitably and efficiently as possible.

The Signature suite has continued to innovate as the industry's technologies have evolved to mobile and the cloud. In 2013, MobileTech was introduced, followed by the debut of MobileTech inspections in 2021. In 2024, WennSoft launched two new cloud offerings: Signature Time and Signature Telematics.

 Evolving with Technology

The first field mobility offering featuring the graphical schedule board and MobileTech, running on Pocket PC and Windows, debuted in the early 2000s. Fast forward to the next decade, and WennSoft evolved the technology to a web, mobile, and tablet offering on Android, Apple, and Windows with the introduction of MobileTech in 2012. The combination of Schedule and MobileTech cemented WennSoft as the #1 mobile app for technicians. Then in 2021, WennSoft extended MobileTech to modernize old paper forms and spreadsheets into digital forms with the introduction of MobileTech inspections.

WennSoft continues to evolve and carry on Jim’s legacy of proven solutions and lasting relationships with the 2024 introduction of three new offerings:

  1. Signature Time - The only mobile and web-based time entry solution integrated into Signature.

  2. Signature Telematics – The only telematics and AI SafetyCam solution integrated into Signature.

  3. ProjectStream 365 – The all-in-one operational solution for Architecture, Subcontractor Construction and Engineering
